| Ian Lane worked in the Australian
automotive industry for some 15 years as a
professional engineer where he became responsible
for all aspects of engineering for the company's
automatic transmissions. His
professional skills stem from his fascination for
the machine; the creation of kinetic entities
from individual, static pieces.
His artistic diversity encompasses
suspended and free standing performance works -
for indoors and outdoors locations.
The scope of his work and abilities
are best described as 'hi-tech', precision
engineered computer-aided design, high quality of
execution, of delicate balance, symmetry and
asymmetry.
His sculpture reaches beyond that
which is standard in the art world today., beyond
the traditional to state how art will present
itself to society in the future ... It is
timeless. It is permanent.
The sculptor is engineer, artist
specializing in engineered kinetic art.
